Speccy wordsmiths Mike Shephard and Luke Connell have been mucking about with the English language for so long, it’s high time they found out what it really is. What are the stories behind daft words like helicopter, jacuzzi, and barnet?

Mike has written extensively for radio and TV, including Have I Got News for You (BBC), The Reluctant Traveler (AppleTV+), and BBC Radio 4’s Now Show, Museum of Curiosity, and The News Quiz.

Luke is a professor and stand-up comedian, as heard on BBC Radio 4’s In Our Time.

Join them as they crack words open like comedy Easter eggs.

She cancelled only 90 mins. before show time, when I would have assumed that she'd be en route to "sunny" Hastings. A disappointing let-down.
